Dr. Clarence L. Jones, Sr. was born September 20, 1947 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Johnnie and Mildred Jones. He has two siblings, Johnnie Jones, Jr. and Bessie Jones. He grew up in Tampa, Florida and Ontario, New York.

It was in Ontario, at Williams Temple Church of God In Christ (COGIC) that Dr. Jones gave his life to the Lord at a young age and was baptized in Lake Ontario. In Tampa he attended Middleton Sr. High School and graduated in the Class of 1965.

After High School he enrolled in courses at the Man Power Development Training Center which he completed in 1966, licensed as a Building Construction Contractor and Auto Body Repairman.

He was drafted into the United States Army in November 1966, where he served his country as a Missile Crewmember and Supply Sergeant. In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Lula Lockett. This union produced three sons, Clarence Jr., Michael and Roland Jones. In 1968, he took a Business Machine course at the University of Texas, in El Pasco, TX. After his discharge from the U. S. Army in November 1969, he moved back to Tampa and studied Business Administration from 1970 - 1971, at Tampa College.

In 1982, he started his own business, C.J.'s Home Repairs. In 1991, his family relocated to Jacksonville, FL and joined Faust Temple COGIC. From 1993 – 1994, he continued his education by taking a course at Florida Community College at Jacksonville in heating and air-conditioning. Under his pastor, Bishop Rushie L. Dixon's leadership the Lord elevated him to Deacon, Minister then Elder. He served as Bishop Dixon's Aide, Sunday School Superintendent, District Leader and Outreach Ministry Leader. In 1994 he became ill and was forced to retire for medical reasons. While recovering at home, he took study classes with both John Hagee and Rod Parsley Ministries. After completing those, he began classes at Charles Harrison Mason Seminary and Truth for Living Bible College where he worked toward attaining his Associate ’s and Bachelor’s Degrees.

After Bishop Dixon’s passing (July 2011) he was appointed, anointed and installed Pastor of Faust Temple COGIC August 7, 2012 by the Interim Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop Matthew Williams II, during the Annual State Convocation. On August 30, 2014, in recognition of his experience, training and community service he was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree from St. Thomas Christian College & Theological Seminary. While working to support the community he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Jacksonville Community Ministerial Alliance.

Dr. Jones has accomplished many wonderful things since becoming Pastor. He continued the Pastor's Award Banquet initiated by the late Bishop Dixon; three Deacons were installed, plus a Youth Minister, and one Elder. Under his leadership the church installed a new church sign, sound system, computer lab, and doors, along with side and front awnings. His most popular and successful program has been the Adopt-A-Senior Program, where all seniors are made to feel important and loved. He then formed an Advisory Committee and added "This Is Your Special Day" to the Sunday program where each member gets an opportunity to be special for a day and receive a gift from the church and First Lady. He also started several community classes that includes Youth tutoring, Basic Computer Training, Preparing Resumes and Dressing for a job interview, all at no cost.

One of Dr. Jones favorite scriptures is Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man, that He should lie………”. As God ever moves him forward, by his actions he has proven himself to be the leader God has called him to be.
